Making the most of this difficult yet secluded site, was a real challenge. The top story of the house ‘floats’ above the solid base form, so that when inside, its like you are ‘in the trees’.

The plan steps back from north to south, allowing as as much penetration of natural light into the plan as possible. Because the property is in a valley, making the most of the sun’s exposure was paramount in the design.

The design also offers the optimal balance between a family home and a venue for entertaining guests and extended family.
