Bach at Hahei
This site is located just along the road from another project we did a few years ago.
This site is also reasonably long and skinny. The clients wanted to maximise the size of the backyard for ‘cricket with the grandchildren’, so its located as close to the street as possible.
The potential view to sea was not such a priority for the clients as the Hahei campsite sits between them and the ocean, with a large stand of trees on the northern boundary. This affords the site plenty of shelter from north easterly storms.
The priority for this project was the indoor/outdoor relationship at ground floor level and also a requirement for low maintenance/lock up and leave, as the owners live overseas. This led to the proposal for the majority of the house to be clad in Nu-wall Aluminium wall cladding.
